Mel – who turned 41 at the end of last month – says: “I’m a big fan of Barry’s Bootcamp, Zumba and yoga. I have to work out most days to stay in shape; I’m not one of those people who can eat whatever they like. I have to really work at it, especially as I get older.

“Generally, I try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day mixed with weights. I’m also a big fan of sit-ups, so I try to do as many of those as I can.”

Although Mel has always been healthconscious, she reveals that moving from London to LA 15 years ago had a huge impact on her. She now makes the most of the sunny, outdoors lifestyle – along with daughters Phoenix, 17, from her marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar; Angel, nine, from a brief relationship with Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy; and Madison, four, her daughter with husband of nine years Stephen Belafonte, 40.

Mel says: “Living in LA, I’m lucky that I can get out and go on long hikes and run around the Hollywood Hills, which definitely keeps me in shape. I like to mix up my workouts between the gym and the outdoors.”

SEXERCISE!

The feisty singer has also famously credited her active sex life for her trim figure, saying her workout regime consisted of “lots of working out, which is a commitment... and then sexercise.”
