Jordan: “I won’t let rows over Harvey ruin things with Pete”

Jordan tries to heal a new rift with ex Peter Andre after revealing husband Kieran’s plans to adopt Harvey

- By Deborah Fraser

She was hit with a S backlash from fans last week when she announced that her husband Kieran Hayler plans to adopt her son Harvey, from her relationship with Dwight Yorke.

Now insiders reveal that Jordan’s news has also caused tension between her and her ex-husband Peter Andre, just months after they made peace following a six-year feud.

Sources close to the pair say that Peter was flabbergasted and hurt by the news and it’s stirred up old tensions from when they were married. It appears that Jordan – real name Katie Price – is now desperate to smooth things over with Pete amid fears it could harm their reunion.

A source says: “Pete doesn’t want to get into an argument with Katie over this, he thought they’d put an end to these public spats. He always says he was distraught when his relationship with Harvey ended, and it’s clear to him now that there’s still some issues with Katie about it.”

WAR OF WORDS

Following the news last week, mum-of-five Jordan was accused by online fans of being insensitive to her ex-husband Pete, who had openly talked about wanting to adopt Harvey before their fouryear marriage broke down in 2009. The pair embarked on a public war of words at the time, with Pete claiming he was banned from seeing his former stepson.

Speaking about Harvey – who suffers from Prader-willi syndrome and is autistic – in 2010, the singer, 43, said: “I’m missing him so much, Kate doesn’t want me to see him until I have a specially qualified nanny she approves of.”

However, last week Jordan, 38, reacted angrily to critics claiming that Kieran’s decision to adopt Harvey was insensitive to Pete, Tweeting: “Pete doesn’t want to adopt Harvey and doesn’t see him any more. So don’t judge on something you don’t know about.”

And after Kieran, 29, said he’s forging ahead with adoption plans as he wants the family to all be “connected,” sources now claim the couple’s announcement was in reaction to an earlier interview from Pete. Last month, the singer opened up about his excitement at becoming a dad for the fourth time – and referred to his two children Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, with Jordan, and Amelia, two, with wife Emily Macdonagh, 26 – neglecting to mention Harvey.

A REAL BLOW

A source says: “Pete always worried that Katie used Harvey as a way of punishing him for their split, so he decided it was for the best to keep his distance. But Katie speaking openly about wanting Kieran to adopt Harvey has been a real blow to Pete, as that was always his wish.

“Katie’s adamant that Pete stopped making an effort with Harvey the moment he started a new family with Emily, but she regrets being so brazen about their adoption plans after all the work they’ve put into becoming friends again. But she won’t let this latest drama ruin the bridges they’ve worked hard to build.”
