After the assault charges against George Kay are dropped, insiders say Kerry Katona wants him back in her life
“George is my soulmate”
She announced the S end of her third marriage last October, after her husband George Kay was arrested following an alleged bust-up at their home – but as the case against him collapsed last week, pals fear Kerry Katona, 35, is now set to reunite with her troubled ex.
LURID CLAIMS
George’s trial – in which he was accused of slapping Kerry, leaving her with cuts and bruises on her face and arms, pulling her hair and also being in possession of a stun gun – folded after she withdrew her evidence.
Now insiders reveal that former rugby league star George, 36 – who has a violent criminal past – was trying to sell a kiss-and-tell about his marriage just days after she helped acquit him of the lurid claims. Her inner circle also claim he was bombarding Kerry with texts and calls at the same time, pleading for a second chance.
A source says: “Kerry’s emotions have been all over the place after George told her he wants to get back together. He’s been calling her up to 10 times a day, and now that the case has been dropped he’s begging her for another chance. He’s told Kerry he’s a changed man and can’t cope without her.
“Kerry’s told pals that she still loves him, but says it’s too disruptive for the kids to take him back. Her friends are worried that she’s not strong enough to stick to her resolve; Kerry’s been speaking to George most days and they’re concerned he’ll find a way back into her life.
“Kerry still believes that, deep down, George is her soulmate – they’ve known each other since school and she can’t imagine her life without him. She doesn’t have many friends and is incredibly lonely. Without George she says she doesn’t have anyone to talk to every day apart from her mum.”
After Kerry split from George, insiders say she started dating again, and was even linked to convicted murderer Kevin Lane after they were seen on a night out together – but pals say she quickly became disillusioned.
A source reveals: “After Kerry broke things off with George, she lost 2st on the heartbreak diet and was starting to feel really good again. But although she tried dating apps, she didn’t find anyone she really clicked with. She doesn’t believe anyone will want to look after a single mum with five kids.”

November that ending her rocky marriage was the “right thing to do.” But just weeks later she admitted in a TV interview that she was still “madly in love” with George and refused to rule out a reconciliation, saying: “I haven’t got a crystal ball.”
Just two months after her revelation, George risked breaching his bail terms when he was seen visiting Kerry’s house in January, despite being told back in November that he could not contact the star, except through an agreed third party.
To add to Kerry’s troubles, her mum Sue – who she’s very close to – has been struggling with ill health after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition last year.
A source says: “Sue’s health has been deteriorating for a while and she’s on painkillers a lot of the time. It puts Kerry’s mind at ease when Sue stays with her in East Sussex, but when she goes back home to Warrington she’s constantly posting on Facebook about her ailments and it stresses Kerry out to read it all.”
DESTRUCTIVE PATH
In recent months, Kerry has been seen having a number of boozy meltdowns – including being pictured with her trousers around her ankles at Gran Canaria airport in April.
And now pals say Kerry – who had already reportedly filed for divorce from George – is comfort-eating as a way to cope.
She overhauled her diet and fitness at the beginning of the year, losing 2st and looking happy and healthy. But insiders say Kerry, who has yo-yoed between a size 8 and a size 16, has gone from a size 10 to a size 14-16 in the last few months.
A source says: “Kerry’s gained weight as she’s been feeling so low and stressed about George’s court case. She’s ditched the clean eating and daily workouts, and is now tucking into ready-meals, as well as drinking a couple of glasses of wine most nights. She’s smoking a lot more too, and feels so out of shape. She’s struggling to motivate herself to go back to the gym.
“Kerry knows she’s happier when she’s looking after herself, but she’s not beating herself up about the weight gain. She says she’s had a rough ride and people should just give her a break. But after overhauling her body at the start of the year and saying it was the first positive change she was making in her life, pals worry she’s sliding back into her old ways.”
