Sophie Gradon talks to Closer about life after Love Island and who the real champions are
“I feel like the winner of the show”
It’s been the most talked about TV show of the summer, and dominated headlines with its bedhopping antics and sex scenes. But now the winning couple have been crowned, and ex-islander Sophie Gradon, who previously dated Danny Cipriani, reckons only three couples will stay together now the show’s over.
REAL ROMANCE
Sophie tells Closer: “Nathan [Massey] and Cara [De La Hoyde] have been together since the beginning of the show and have gone through the whole process together. And Scott arrived having been single for six years and not expecting to find anyone, but he and Kady are a good pair. They wind each other up, but they’re so similar and are really happy together.”
And obviously the third couple is Sophie and Welsh fitness instructor Tom, 24. Their relationship was dogged by arguments, and despite him confessing he loved her as he was voted off the island, bisexual Sophie, 30, went on to have a short fling with newbie Katie Salmon before deciding to leave the villa early.
Sophie says: “I’ve got my own flat in Newcastle and said to Tom before he left the island that it’d be amazing if he could come and stay with me, or we could move to London together. I see a future with him, and feel like a winner for meeting him.”
FUTURE STARS
Former model Sophie predicts Nathan will be the breakaway star and should join the TOWIE cast.
The Essex lad – who is already best pals with Tommy Mallett – had previously confessed he was open to offers to appear on the reality show.
Nathan said: “I really like TOWIE, and I know so many of the cast. Tommy and Georgia [Kousoulou] are the perfect couple, she’s a total diamond. I’ve seen Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan in my local Nando’s in Chigwell before!”
But while Sophie was accused of exaggerating her feelings for Tom, she’s adamant they’re the real deal.
Sophie says: “It’s impossible for anyone to fake a relationship on the show as you’re together 24/7, it’s such an intense environment. I’m looking forward to my future with Tom now.”
