‘Getting even with Zayn is my therapy!’

They ended their engagement 18 months ago and have both moved on with new partners, but it seems Little Mix star Perrie Edwards still has an axe to grind against her ex Zayn Malik.

Perrie revealed fresh details about their split in leaked extracts from her band’s upcoming book, Our World. And has confirmed that the damning lyrics in the group’s new song, Shoutout To My Ex, is about her 23-year-old ex-fiancé – who has been seeing supermodel Gigi Hadid, 21, for a year.

Pals tell Closer that Perrie, 23, who’s dating actor Luke Pasqualino, 26, is continuing to lash out at singer Zayn as a form of therapy as she struggles to get over the heartbreak caused by her ex.

A source reveals: “Perrie’s committed to Luke, but her behaviour shows she’s still not fully over what Zayn did, and harbours a huge amount of anger towards him. She says the only way she feels better is to try to get even with him after the split.

“Pals have told her to focus instead on her relationship with Luke, but Perrie insists it helps her deal with her pain, and gives her satisfaction knowing it’s chipping away at Zayn in the process. She’s reassured pals it won’t affect her new relationship.”

Perrie said it was “the worst time of my life” when Zayn – whom she dated for four years and got engaged to in 2013 – ended their engagement over text. She also revealed she had a “mini-breakdown” at an airport following a call reportedly from her ex.

An insider adds: “Perrie says that once she’s done with the new single and the book promotion, she’ll be ready to shut the door on her painful past and move on with her life.”
