Courteney tells Brad: “Jen doesn’t hold any grudges”
As he fights for joint custody of his children, Brad Pitt has a heart-to-heart with Courteney Cox
They both attended T the same charity event in Malibu last week, and insiders reveal Courteney Cox took the opportunity to have an emotional chat with pal Jennifer Aniston’s ex, Brad Pitt, amid his divorce from second wife Angelina Jolie.
Courteney, 52, has previously defended her friend – who split from Brad in 2005 – after she was dragged into the bitter divorce, insisting: “It’s not about Jennifer... We’re exacerbating it by even talking about it.”
GOOD FRIENDS
Now insiders say Courteney – who’s engaged to Snow Patrol singer Johnny Mcdaid, 40 – was eager to smooth things over with Brad, 53, who she hasn’t had contact with since he allegedly left Jennifer for Angelina. Jennifer, 47, has since gone on to marry actor Justin Theroux.
A source says: “Courteney and Brad were good friends when he was with Jen but, after their split, there was a mutual understanding of where Courteney’s loyalty lay, so they never really spoke again.
“When she saw Brad at the party, she went up to him and assured him there were no hard feelings – and said how good it was to see him.
“Courteney told him how sorry she was for everything he was going through. She went on to assure him that Jen held no grudges toward him, and said they were all wishing him the best in his custody battle.”
NO AWKWARDNESS
Angelina, who filed for divorce from Brad in September last year after a decade together and two years of marriage, currently has sole custody of the couple’s six children – Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight – with Brad reportedly having supervised visits while he fights for joint custody.
A source adds: “Brad hasn’t seen Jen in years so he appreciated Courteney’s support and asked her to send his best wishes. He also said he hoped enough time had passed that they could attend events without any awkwardness. Courteney said Jen hoped for that, too.”
