MISCHA HOSPITALISED AFTER PUBLIC BREAKDOWN

Over the years Mischa Barton, who found fame in The OC in 2003, has suffered from bouts of ill-health. However, last week she sparked serious concern when she was found screaming and rambling in her backyard.

The 31-year-old actress, wearing only a shirt, was spotted by neighbours leaning over her garden fence in her West Hollywood home, “screaming about the end of the world and her mum being a witch,” before police were called and she was voluntarily taken to hospital for a mental health evaluation.

In December 2007, Mischa, then 21, was arrested for DUI – driving under the influence – as well as possession of marijuana and driving without a licence. A court ordered her to go to rehab and see a sobriety coach.

Then, two years later, she was sectioned for two weeks in a mental hospital after reportedly being suicidal.

Of her time in the mental ward, Mischa said: “It was terrifying… I was overworked and depressed.”
