When Jade Jagger found out she was pregnant at 42, at the same time as her daughter Assisi, 21, she described it as a “double whammy.” Although she said it was nice sharing the experience, she later admitted that becoming both a mother and grandmother at the same time was “weird” and she’d been “nervous” about sharing the news. Jade gave birth in June 2014, just one month after Assisi. Closer’s psychologist Emma Kenny explains: “There are positives and negatives to this situation. One of the biggest problems is that, when you have a child, you often rely on your mum for guidance, but if she is looking after her own child it’s hard for her to take on that responsibility. However, both women can share their experiences and struggles with each other. This means that there will be a shift in the relationship and they’ll share more of a friendly or sister-like bond – but this can work for some people.”
