Calum: “I’ve been single my whole life”

-

He’s a well-known Lothario, making headlines in his 20s for his mad partying and infamous womanising, so it was no surprise when he caught the eye of Jasmine Waltz, Chloe Ferry and Jessica Cunningham in Celebrity Big Brother.

But Calum Best admits that his traumatic history, growing up with his alcoholic dad – football legend George Best, who died in 2005 – and living a life in the spotlight, has left him feeling alone and turning to drink, drugs and women to deal with his past.

Talking on Channel 5’s In Therapy show this week, Calum admits: “I’ve had to listen to what a legend my father was, but I have a different experience that was s**t. I was a young lad desperate for emotion and he would never give it back.

“There was a time in my life right after I lost my old man from 24 to 27 when I drank a lot and I tried drugs. I slept around and I built a horrible reputation for myself.”

Calum, 35, says that while he’s desperate for a relationship, he doubts whether he can ever settle down and be happy.

He reveals: “I’ve been single my whole life. I look at a situation and I think I can’t commit. I’ve got so much I want to share with somebody… What is stopping me?”
