“Trump doesn’t value women – he’s a bully!”

After a series of women’s marches in protest at President Donald Trump’s election victory, expert psychologist Emma Kenny analyses his views

A s the first political leader to meet the new US President, Prime Minister Theresa May was urged last week to stand up to Donald Trump following a series of misogynistic comments during his campaign. It followed hundreds of women’s protest marches around the world against the US President, who made headlines for sexist and racist outbursts while running for office. He was also accused of sexually assaulting women, something he denied.

The PM, who had described Trump’s vile comments about grabbing women “by the pussy” as “unacceptable,” was urged by politicians and women’s rights campaigners to challenge his views on women as the two met to discuss a post-brexit trade deal as Closer went to press.

Here, expert psychologist Emma Kenny analyses some of Trump’s comments – some dating back years before he began his political career – to find out what he really thinks about women… “I’m automatically attracted to beautiful [women] — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” EMMA SAYS: “Trump considers some men equal, but no woman can be anything other than physically appealing, or unappealing, in his eyes. The belief that he’s physically invited into a woman’s space due to them being star struck, means he consistently misjudges the women he meets. Trump comes across like a megalomaniac, only aware of his wants, needs and desires.”

“Putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing. There was a great softness to [first wife] Ivana, and she still has that softness, but during this period of time, she became an executive, not a wife... You know, I don’t want to sound too much like a chauvinist, but when I come home and dinner’s not ready, I’ll go through the roof.” EMMA SAYS: “For Trump, it seems a woman’s place is in the home or in his bed. The suggestion that a woman needs to remain soft if she is to be a wife means that he has no value of the very important impact women have, especially in the workplace. The idea that it’s acceptable to berate a woman for failing to put a meal on the table suggests a ’50s attitude in an era that no longer recognises such values. He comes across as a bully.”

“Nobody cares about the talent [in beauty pageants]. There’s only one talent you care about, and that’s the look talent. You don’t give a sh*t if a girl can play a violin like the greatest violinist in the world. You want to know what she looks like.” EMMA SAYS: “This is raw and yet honest. Trump identifies truthfully what lies beneath pageants and calls them out on their true purpose. Unfortunately this isn’t due to him being against them. Instead, this mirrors his internal

feelings towards women: ‘You are only worth what you look like.’” “i’ve said if ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps i’d be dating her.” EMMA SAYS: “He seems unaware of social and familiar boundaries and the alarm this would cause survivors of abuse. On Ivanka’s level, the fact her father appears to sexualise her is worrying.” “women have one of the great acts of all time. the smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. the person who came up with the expression ‘the weaker sex’ was either very naive or had to be kidding. i have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye — or perhaps another body part.” EMMA SAYS: “This statement shows Trump’s true weakness: he wants to paint the perfect family values, but he struggles with his own fidelity. Rather than accept he is weak in his own nature, he wants to blame the woman who he is weak around. Trump needs to see people as individuals, irrespective of their gender.”
