We know burnt food produces chemicals linked to cancer, but it’s the amount that makes it a risk – you’d have to eat a lot of burnt toast to worry. The highest levels are in chips and crisps – but you shouldn’t have lots of those anyway! To reduce cancer risk, don’t smoke, drink less, get your regular smear test and stay at a healthy weight.
