Danielle tells Gary: “I’ll help you find love again”
While she celebrates her pregnancy, Danielle Bux is determined to help her ex Gary Lineker have his fairy-tale ending too
They’re arguably the friendliest exes in showbiz, and Gary Lineker’s close relationship with ex-wife Danielle Bux continued to raise eyebrows last week when the pair were seen having a cosy lunch on Mother’s Day.
Just hours after Danielle, 37 – who’s reportedly three months pregnant – made her baby news official, Gary took the Welsh model out for a bite to eat with her eldest daughter, Ella, 15, to publicly congratulate her.
Danielle gushed about the news she’s expecting a baby with US lawyer Nate Greenwald, posting a picture of her bump on Instagram. Former England footballer Gary, 56, posted the snap to his five million Twitter followers and wrote: “Congratulations to you both.”
HER CLOSEST FRIEND
A source says: “Danielle still considers Gary to be her closest friend and he’s her number one go-to for everything.
“They message most days – they’re still best friends. They still enjoy doing all the things they used to when they were married, like eating out and going to the cinema. Gary jokes that their relationship is the best it’s been now they’re divorced!”
The insider adds: “Gary hasn’t seen anyone seriously since their split and Danielle is determined for him to find someone, too. She’s insisting she takes on the role of matchmaker to help him find love again.”
The pair were said to be living separate lives a year before their split was announced in January after six years of marriage. The break-up was reportedly fuelled by Danielle’s desire to have more children – something dad-of-four Gary seemingly didn’t want.
They’ve remained close since, with Gary even visiting Danielle and her new man Nate, 41 – whom she met eight months ago when she moved next door to him in LA following her marriage breakdown.
FINDING A MATCH
Closer recently revealed how Gary was one of the first people she told after finding out she was pregnant and was even considering asking him to be the baby’s godfather. A source reveals: “Nate was uncomfortable with Danielle and Gary’s relationship at first, but Gary went to great lengths to befriend Nate and they get on great. “Gary thinks it may be a step too far for Danielle to set him up with someone, but she’s convinced she can find him a suitable match. She’s even said she can’t wait for them to go on double dates. She wants them to be as happy as each other.”
