Simon tells Mel: ‘Come back to The X Factor’
She’s currently embroiled in a messy and vitriolic divorce – but amid the stress, Mel B was pictured out in LA last week looking better than ever. And now insiders say that old pal and former colleague Simon Cowell has reached out to the former Spice Girl – and is keen for her to re-join The X Factor.
A source says: “Simon is amazed at how strong Mel’s been throughout all of the drama in her private life. He wants to see her happy and to get her back on track, he’d love for her to return to the UK as a judge on The X Factor.”
Looking incredible in LA last week, Mel, 41, seemed to conceal the tension and trauma mounting over her divorce with her husband of nine years, film producer Stephen Belafonte.
Since announcing their split in March, there have been rumours of violence and cheating – with reports emerging that Stephen, 41, had got their nanny Lorraine Gilles, 25, pregnant and paid for her to have an abortion. Both Stephen and Lorraine have denied the allegations.
And last week it was reported Mel had been granted a fiveyear restraining order against Lorraine, as well as a temporary restraining order on Stephen. Now insiders say Mel, who currently presents America’s Got Talent, is considering a return.
A source says: “Mel’s flattered that Simon wants her back – she’s just figuring out how to balance everything now she’s getting her life back on track.”
