Cheryl’s vow:
“I won’t give up on my dream of getting married”
hey’ve been keeping T a low profile since the birth of their son Bear two months ago. But Liam Payne sparked a media storm last week when he referred to girlfriend Cheryl as his “wife” during a radio interview in America.
However, he later revealed in a separate chat that marriage “wasn’t on the cards,” saying: “I see marriage as more of a religious thing and I’m not really a religious person, so I know it’s not really on the cards for me at the moment. So no, not yet. We have a baby together – you know, our love for each other can’t be more serious so it is what it is I guess.”
However, sources close to Cheryl, 33 – who’s had a notoriously rocky love life – say she’s determined to have the fairy-tale ending with One Direction star Liam, 23, and make their relationship stand the test of time.
A source says: “While Cheryl supports Liam’s views, she is a strong believer in marriage. Cheryl’s not going to give up on her dream– she wants to have the same surname as her son and Liam, and have the family she’s always dreamed of.”
Tellingly, Liam also revealed last week how Cheryl nearly ended their relationship in the early stages, while he was keen to “cling on.” He also admitted that she doesn’t like being reminded of their 10-year age gap.
But sources say Cheryl is eager to properly cement their relationship and focus on their future.
A source adds: “She’s definitely keen to marry Liam and be a proper family and is pining for that security of having a husband and being in a loving marriage.”
LONG-DISTANCE
Liam – who launched his solo career last week and spends a lot of time in LA – also gave an insight into life as a dad. After admitting that he gave into Cheryl’s choice of baby name as “she did all the work,” Liam also revealed that Cheryl was refusing to get a nanny and was therefore doing the lion’s share of looking after Bear to prepare herself for when Liam is away working.
He explained: “I’ll be honest with you, she’s [Cheryl] doing it all herself at the moment because she wants to know what it feels like when I’m not there.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl hasn’t been seen in public since Bear’s birth, but broke her social media silence last week to chat to fans on Twitter, revealing he was “amazing” and “doing great.” She even cheekily revealed that the two-month-old only pees on her and not his father.
Insiders say that Cheryl is determined to ensure she and Liam don’t fall into the traps of a long-distance relationship. After two failed marriages – the first to footballer Ashley Cole, which ended in 2010 after four years, and the second to French restaurateur Jean-bernard Fernandez Versini, which ended last January after 18 months – Cheryl has told pals she is adamant her relationship with Liam will be different.
SEPARATE LIVES
A source says: “Right now, Cheryl and Liam are on different pages. While Liam has a solo album to promote, Cheryl’s at home with their baby. They don’t want to be apart all the time, so they’re going to start organising their schedules to ensure they spend time together as a family.”
