So what are you like as a coach?

I hope the kids think of me as a big sister. They all make me smile when I see them. They are so enthusiastic and it’s amazing to be around them. But it’s so hard to say goodbye through the different stages, it breaks my heart a little bit. I have a team of 12.

You have to be firm but fair, though…

I do have to give them constructive criticism and tell them how they can improve, because that’s how you get better and learn. There’s so much I want to tell them because I really care about each and every one of them. I don’t want to let them down, but if they don’t get through I hope they feel they have learned something from it. What’s it like being on the panel with Will.i.am and Danny? They are crazy fun, and we have great energy bouncing off each other. It’s fun being the only girl, too. They go off on tangents sometimes and I’m a bit like: “What are you talking about you crazy boys?!” I’m in the middle, so I’m like: “Here we go again!” But I’m so happy with the panel. We had a great time. I just tried to go with the flow to be honest, so I didn’t ask any advice. Will has done The Voice for a while now but it’s different for him doing the kids’ show. He’s got a good heart and he really cares, and he’s such a genius when it comes to music. Yeah, definitely! Did you ask Will.i.am for any advice before the show? if The Voice had been around when you were younger, would you have auditioned for it?
