How are the Kardashians still going strong after 10 years?

-

The first family of reality TV have T dominated popular culture for a decade with the debut episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians airing in the US in October 2007 and the likes of Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie – as well as Caitlyn – collectively earning a staggering £150m. It all began when Kim Kardashian’s sex tape with her singer ex-boyfriend Ray J was leaked and the high drama and headlines have never stopping rolling – with the latest reports claiming Kim and husband Kanye West are using a surrogate to have their third child.

From spin-off shows to endless scandals, the mastermind behind it all is momager extraordinaire, Kris Jenner. Writing in her 2011 autobiography, All Things Kardashian, she said: “Every time we renewed for another season. I would think to myself, ‘How can I take these one minutes of fame and turn them into 30?”

But somehow she did, each time planning things out perfectly. The star added: “I started to look at our careers like pieces on a chessboard. Every day, I woke up, walked into my office and asked myself, ‘What move do you need to make today?’ It was very calculated. My business decisions and strategies were very intentional, definite and planned to the nth degree.”

With interest in the family showing no sign of slowing down, Closer speaks to celeb PR Dean Piper – who’s met the Kardashians numerous times. Here, as we examine how they’ve dominated the showbiz scene, he reveals why we still can’t get enough of the kraziness…
