Following Wayne’s drink-drive scandal, the Rooneys’ are seemingly leading separate lives at the moment

She’s been leaving S people guessing over the state of her nine-year marriage with troubled footballer Wayne Rooney, as they haven’t been seen together since his shock arrest for drink-driving on a boozy night out with “party girl” Laura Simpson.
And insiders say that heavily pregnant Coleen Rooney – who returned from a break in the Caribbean with her three sons and parents last week – has been living a separate life from Wayne over the past month, as work and travel keep them apart.
A source says, “Coleen and Wayne have always had a packed social calendar and she was often seen at his football matches, but she’s planning on stepping back as she doesn’t want to stir up more speculation or headlines.
“She feels that it’s for the best to maintain a distance between them so she can get her head around the drama in their lives. She says it’s heartbreaking and so hard because she still loves Wayne, but she has no choice.”
Wayne has been seen carrying out his 100 hours of community service, which he received alongside a two-year driving ban, after being pulled over in a car in September with single mum Laura, 29, who claimed they’d been “kissing and cuddling” – which she later denied.
KEEPING BUSY
As well as his football training schedule, Wayne has also reportedly been overseeing the building of a £20m mansion just 30 miles from the Everton ground. Meanwhile, Coleen has been sharing pictures of herself with their sons Kai, eight, Klay, four, and one-yearold Kit, enjoying their holiday.
Last week, she posted a photo with the boys in matching pyjamas, sparking comments from fans that she still wasn’t wearing her wedding ring, and asking whether Wayne was the person who took the photo. Wayne, 32, then shared a photo of him with Kai celebrating his eighth birthday. Sources close to Coleen say she is throwing herself into her busy life after being left “stressed” by Wayne’s latest scandal. An insider says, “Coleen wants to distract herself, so has packed her diary with personal training sessions, play dates, charity meetings and the boys’ after-school activities. She just wants to focus on the kids and staying healthy throughout the final months of her pregnancy.”
RECONNECTING
Closer previously reported how Wayne is trying to make things up to his wife by planning a lavish holiday so they can reconnect, but a source says she’s keen to spend as much time as possible with the boys.
An insider says: “Wayne wants to plan date nights and a romantic getaway, but Coleen is dragging her heels. She wants to keep their home life as steady as possible, but they know they have to find time for each other in their lives going forward.”
