‘Just keep going’

-

It’s been a tough start to the year for newly-single Davina Mccall. Last week, she was forced to hit back at trolls who had labelled her a “homewrecker”, after she revealed she sent messages to Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on Twitter in the hope he’d notice her.

She revealed her “crush” on the ex-professional wrestler during a podcast, calling him the “nicest guy” and joking that she’d love to marry him. She said, “I’m literally sending him messages all the time, I’m thinking ‘persist, persist!’” Before adding, “He’s so big, I’d have to climb up his thigh”.

Fans later slammed Davina online, branding her a “homewrecker” and “desperate”. Taking to social media, the 50-year-old TV host and mum of three – who announced the end of her 17-year marriage to Matthew Robertson last November – insisted she “talked about messaging The Rock in jest” and that his longterm girlfriend Lauren Hashian has “nothing to worry about”. She added, “I love him. I’m not secretly messaging! I’d have to crawl over Alison Hammond to get there. [But] my son is very excited that The Rock might know who I am!”

Now, in a show of solidarity, the US star has responded, offering some advice to the star for dealing with heartbreak. He revealed, “She is going through a difficult time at the moment, so my advice to her is to just keep on going. I’ve been there, I have been in a dark place, and if there’s one thing she needs, it is to talk things out, because nobody should be suffering in silence.” The Rock, 45 – whose girlfriend is pregnant with the couple’s second child – also insisted he’d keep an eye out for Davina’s messages. He added,“davina seems like she has a lot of positive energy herself, because saying nice things about others is a big sign that you are confident in yourself.”

They were rumoured T to have been dating for more than a year, with their secret romance fizzling out just before Christmas. But Olly Murs insists his relationship with Melanie Sykes was never serious.

According to insiders, the pair were introduced by a mutual friend and bonded over their joint love of fitness. And while Olly, 33, tells Closer there was some romance, he insists he is most definitely on the market – and that Mel, 47, was never his girlfriend.

He reveals, “I haven’t been dating Melanie Sykes for a year! That’s 100 per cent not true. She’s lovely, an amazing woman, and we are great friends. We had a brief fling at the start of last year, but we’re not dating, that’s for sure. I’m still single, still looking to mingle.”

Prior to his fling with Mel, Olly was in a relationship with property manager Francesca Thomas for three years.

However, the star – who recently landed a place on The Voice mentoring panel – called it quits in 2015 when they decided that they were both too “career driven”.

And while the singer is happy to focus on work for now, he admits he’s looking forward to settling down so that he can relax his diet.

He tells Closer, “I have tried to cut down on sugar, but I have a cheat day on a Sunday. Then, by Monday, it’s sugar overload. But I just keep fit and healthy. Until I get a girlfriend... then I’ll get fat again! I’ll be on the sofa eating Doritos and Maltesers. I’ll be like, ‘Babe, I’m in love. You’ll love me when I’m fat, right?’”
