MY TYPICAL DAY:

‘Exercise helps me de-stress’

-

I GET UP AROUND 9AM – but if it’s a weekend, I’ll sleep in. I’m usually up at the crack of dawn, but as I’ve just been performing in a play – the Royal Shakespeare Theatre’s She likes Twelfth Night – I have become nocturnal. to keep fit I try to mix up my breakfast – I’ll have porridge one day and rye bread the next. Then I spend five minutes doing vocal exercises while I put on my make-up. I LOVE TO KEEP FIT, BUT I’M NOT NATURALLY VERY MOTIVATED. So when I go to the gym, I’ll work out with a personal trainer or do a cardio class. Exercise is a great way to de-stress. It’s on my list to take up dance classes too – I miss it as my stint on Strictly Come Dancing [in 2010] seems so long ago! I’LL CATCH UP WITH FRIENDS OVER LUNCH. After working away from home while I’ve been in the play, I’ve been trying to see everyone, so I’ll meet friends for lunch if I can. In the afternoon, I’ll work on ideas and scripts for the documentary I’m working on about dyslexia. EATING OUT IS ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT LONDON. There are so many amazing restaurants. Marius is a phenomenal cook and I’m useless. I’ll have some chocolate in the evening – I’ve trained my taste buds into preferring dark chocolate, so it’s not too bad. After dinner, we’ll binge-watch Curb Your Enthusiasm then I will go to bed about 11.30pm. ● Kara Tointon is an ambassador for the 2018 National Lottery Awards; the search to find the UK’S favourite Lottery-funded projects.
