‘Older royals might want to see Meghan slip up’

-

Princess Diana’s former butler, and royal insider, Paul Burrell, 59, believes the family drama is sadly set to continue for Meghan. He says, “There was a lot of commotion for the week before a royal wedding. The royal family will be thinking, ‘What a mess this all is’, and they may have regrets. Meghan will also be devastated – this is supposed to be the most exciting time of her life, but the damage has been done.

“Meghan’s father, Thomas, has been thrust into the spotlight and there is no protocol in place for helping families of those joining the royals. It’s not easy walking into the royal family and people are bound to be taken advantage of. There should have been more communication between Meghan’s family and the royals – and if the royal family don’t reach out, there will be even more drama in the future. It will be hard to silence her siblings and all of this publicity presents a real risk of escalating – at worst, it could blow the royal family apart.

“The are two worlds in the royal family – the ‘old guard’ and the ‘new world’. Meghan is from the new world and the older, more traditional members of the family won’t like all the controversy and might be wanting to see her slip up. She needs to be wary and careful – this will be a real fear for her.

“She will also be expected to look wonderful and be perfect, and that expectation can be hard to handle. But saying that, she’s served a great apprenticeship being an actress so hopefully she’ll know how to play this all out.”
