Vogue: “Pregnancy’s made me self-conscious about my body”

Vogue Williams opens up about her insecurities as she prepares for motherhood and why she’s choosing to ignore warnings about her fiancé, Spencer Matthews

She announced in March S that she was expecting a baby with fiancé Spencer Matthews – and Vogue Williams has been proudly showing-off her blossoming baby bump on social media ever since.

But while Vogue, 32, tells Closer she’s loving being pregnant, she also admits that it’s been a struggle to adjust to her changing shape.

The model says, “Getting your bump is exciting – mine has popped now and it’s getting bigger every day. But I’m a little bit self-conscious – I thought I would be much worse to be honest, but it’s still hard to adjust.

“I’m a completely different shape now! It’s harder to dress myself – I’m wearing a lot of floaty dresses.”

Last month, Vogue, who is expecting a boy, was forced to deny she’d Photoshopped some of her pregnancy pictures, after trolls said her bump looked different in pictures.

But Vogue says that Made In Chelsea star Spencer – who she met when the pair took part in reality show The Jump last year – has helped her become more secure in her pregnancy body and that he can’t wait to become a father.

BAD REPUTATION

She reveals, “Spencer’s been amazing about my changing body – he’s always telling me how good I look, so that makes me feel happier and more confident. He’s loving it – although he just wants the baby to come now!

“He’s so excited about becoming a dad and teaching our son sports and things. We’re both quite sporty so I’m sure he’ll be active!”

Vogue – who was previously married to Westlife star Brian Mcfadden, 38, and has been linked to actor Laurence Fox, 39 – got engaged to Spencer, 28, in February this year. And while the couple are happier than ever, their relationship raised eyebrows initially due to his bad-boy reputation.

Spencer’s doomed relationships have played out on-screen on Made In Chelsea – including romances with Louise Thompson, Stephanie Pratt and Lucy Watson – and he has been caught cheating a number of times.

And while Vogue has been praised for “taming” him, his jilted ex-girlfriend Louise has been sceptical about his relationship with Vogue in the past, saying, “I don’t know whether he will ever be faithful to one woman.”

But Vogue adamantly defends their romance – and insists their relationship is unlike any of Spencer’s previous ones.

She says, “Spencer’s bad-boy reputation is from a time when he did a TV show when he was very young – he was 21. You’re still a baby at 21 – I’m just happy the things I did at 21 weren’t put on a TV show! He’s almost 30 now and he’s grown up. I didn’t have to tame him or do anything. He’s always been a good guy deep down.

“I don’t really understand those comments from his exes. Our relationship is certainly very different from any relationship he’s ever been in and different from any I’ve had, too. We’re on a different level with each other.”

PAST ANXIETIES

While she’s happy in her private and professional life now, Vogue has been open about her battle with anxiety in the past – previously admitting there were times when she didn’t feel able to leave her house.

And while she’s in a much better place now, Vogue admits that she still gets anxious from time to time.

“I get quite bad anxiety and it’s come back

a bit while I’ve been pregnant. I don’t know why I have it – it’s just general life anxiety. If I knew what it was about, that would be the first step in getting rid of it. But exercise keeps that in check and makes you feel better about yourself. It’s more under control now than it has been in the past.”

Vogue has kept up her fitness regime during her pregnancy – saying it’s good for her physical and emotional wellbeing – but admits that her cravings are getting the better of her. She says, “I won’t give up my fitness training. I love the gym and keeping fit and healthy is something I want to do. I didn’t want to just get pregnant and stop all that.

“I’m having a lot of cravings – I can’t get enough of dairy! Ice cream, milk, yoghurt, cheese – I want it all. Orange juice is also a big one – and, weirdly, my mum said she craved orange juice when she was pregnant with me.”

WEDDING PLANS

And as she gears up to having her first child, Vogue is juggling wedding planning, too. She says, “We always wanted to have a baby before a wedding and obviously right now the baby is the priority. But I’m excited about getting married. It will probably be next year and we want a big party. “In five years’ time, I want to have had baby number two with Spencer. I want a family and I just want us to be happy, which I’m sure we will be.”
