TRY THIS AMAZON CASH-SAVING HACK

Online marketplace Flubit.com offers a service where they’ll find you the product you are looking at on Amazon for a cheaper price – usually 10-15 per cent less. All you need to do is submit the Amazon link and within 24 hours they’ll have found your item for less, at no charge to you. There are some Amazon categories which aren’t supported by Flubit though, including vehicles, services, fashion, second-hand products, downloadable content and tickets. Flubit Chief Executive Bertie Stephens says, “Take the cost to sell on Amazon out of the equation and merchants are able to price more competitively, which delivers savings to online shoppers.”

USE A SNEAKY CINEMA LOOPHOLE

Meerkat Movies allows anyone with insurance bought through Compare The Market to get 2-for-1 tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday. But you don’t need to fork out on pricey car or home insurance – a loophole means you only need to pay around £1 to get the 2-for-1 deal for 12 months, by taking out cheap travel insurance. Meanwhile, Showcase cinemas’ Insider loyalty programme not only gives you discounted tickets, but also 10 per cent cash back. The national cinema chain offers Insider members £7 tickets for screenings after 7pm on a Sunday and all day Monday and Tuesday, plus 10 per cent of your spend back as a reward to use on a future visit.

SHOP AT YEAR-ROUND SUPER SALES

At Argos, there is always a sale on, so you don’t have to hold out for January or July. Just look for the red “clearance” button on their homepage. They also offer a £10 voucher when you spend £100 or more and a £5 voucher when you spend £50. Companies like DFS and House of Fraser also usually have a sale on – keep a keen eye out on bank holiday weekends too for further discounts.

BAG SOME FREE CLOTHES

When you order from ASOS and open an account, you join their A-list scheme. It gives you 5 points for every £1 spent, and when you’ve got 500 points, you get a £5 voucher – meaning you get 5 per cent of your spend back in vouchers, which are valid for six months. You also get access to double and triple points days and a discount code on your birthday, because everyone needs a new birthday outfit!

FIND LITTLE-KNOWN STUDENT DISCOUNTS

Not all student discounts are well-advertised. For instance, you can get a free cheeseburger or Mcflurry if you buy a meal at Mcdonald’s – just flash your student card. You can also get 50 per cent off Apple Music and free Amazon Prime for six months. Co-op offer 10 per cent off your food shop with an NUS Extra card, and Deliveroo offer free delivery through UNIDAYS. All ecareers courses are eligible for an NUS card, and you can get discounted courses on sites like wowcher!
