They’ve gone from strength to strength since they confirmed their relationship last summer with loved-up social media posts and cosy red-carpet appearances – and fans are already calling on the pair to get engaged.
Now, insiders say that Kate Wright, 27, and Rio Ferdinand, 39 – who were last week spotted in Mykonos – are planning on having a child.
An insider says, “Rio and Kate have talked about having a baby together and it’s a really exciting idea for them. They feel like bringing another life into their lives would be amazing – all their pals think it’s only a matter of time.”
Rio is already dad of three to Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine, and Tia, six, from his marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who tragically lost her battle with breast cancer in 2015.
And sources add that a baby would be extra special for the couple as it would help the healing process for Rio.
Last month, Rio revealed his kids have been pushing for him to pop the question, saying, “The kids talk about that a lot, ‘What role am I playing? Am I holding the ring? Who’s doing this?’ They have it planned. My little girl wants a replica dress and all this stuff.”
The source adds, “Rio has come such a long way since losing Rebecca, and there’s no doubt that Kate has helped him get to the place where is he now. A baby would just be the cherry on the top for them and, after that, they will think about marriage.”
