They split in 2016, T but Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt hit the headlines again last week over claims that a US judge warned the actress she was in danger of losing primary custody of their six children if she didn’t start encouraging them to forge relationships with their actor father.
Leaked court documents claimed that the judge had told Angelina, 43, that not being close to Brad, 54, was “harmful” for their children, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, nine.
However, their son Maddox, 16, can reportedly decide for himself if he wishes to see Brad and is under no obligation to spend time with the actor. This comes after claims that Brad had lunged at Maddox in 2016 during a private flight after the teen tried to defend Angelina during a row. Brad – who denied ever being physically abusive to his children – was investigated over the incident, but cleared just two months later after the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services found no wrongdoing on his part.
A rep for Angelina hit back at reports of the latest court case being leaked to the public, insisting in a statement, “From the start, Angelina has been focused only on their health and needs, which is why it was so important that this last court hearing be conducted privately.
“It’s deplorable that someone, for their own selfish reasons, leaked selective portions of the confidential and sealed court record to create an inaccurate and unfair picture of what is really happening.”
Ever since they announced the end of their 12-year relationship, their bitter feud has played out in public. But last year, they released a joint statement saying they would be “committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification”.
Now, pals say relations broke down earlier this year, when it was alleged Brad had a new girlfriend, scientist Neri Oxman, 42.
The insider says, “They had made an agreement they would keep their dating life out of the spotlight until the divorce was all final, but Angelina couldn’t help feeling like Brad just couldn’t wait to replace her. This leak has really shaken her, and now it seems unlikely the pair will be able to come to an amicable agreement any time soon.”
