Gemma and Arg crisis: could on-screen rows ruin their real-life romance?

As Gemma Collins plots worldwide fame with her reality show, boyfriend Arg tells pals he’s tired of storylines that revolve around their dramatic bust-ups

They’ve seemed T closer than ever since rekindling their on-off sixyear romance at Christmas – admitting recently that marriage and kids could be on the cards in the near future.

But insiders say TOWIE stars Gemma Collins and James “Arg” Argent have been mired in a series of stormy rows recently over the filming of her new reality show.

Gemma, 37 – who is famed for her diva alter ego “The GC” – revealed last month that she’d landed her own fly-on-the-wall series. But pals say Arg, 31, feels the show is trying to “force friction” between the couple.

TENSION

A source reveals, “Arg adores Gemma and they were thrilled to get their romance back on track at the end of last year. But Arg loves Gemma, not her ‘GC’ character. He knows they both found fame on a reality show, but he doesn’t want their romance to be compromised for the sake of the cameras. He’s told friends he’s fed up with their scenes always having to feature some sort of drama or even an argument. He doesn’t like their relationship when it’s rocky. They do row like any couple, but he doesn’t want that to be all there is to their relationship.”

Sources say another cause of tension has been Arg’s recent string of boys’ nights out. He jetted to LA for best pal Mark Wright’s brother Josh’s stag do then was pictured partying in Majorca for the wedding – which Gemma didn’t attend.

The source explains, “Gemma wants to trust Arg, but she’s been honest about getting jealous over him and other women. Friends say she’s become really wound up about his recent trips away with Mark, as she feels he’s partied really hard and not checked in with her to keep her updated.

“She doesn’t blame Mark, but she feels he and the boys probably encouraged Arg to let loose – which means he forgets to reply to her messages. They’ve had a few rows over it and she’s said he needs to make more effort.”

Gemma and Arg’s constant rowing became a huge storyline on the most recent series of TOWIE, with Gemma even admitting to changing the locks on Arg after a fiery bust-up.

And as Closer went to press, it appeared as though the pair had even unfollowed each other on social media.

The source adds, “It’s hard for Gemma and Arg as they want to spend time together, but their work schedules often see them jetting off to different countries. They’ve had to spend an increasing amount of time apart. But Gemma keeps telling Arg it’s all for their future.”

BIG RIFT

The source adds, “She wants them both to build a successful brand. She sees her reality show as a stepping stone to a big

international career. Friends noticed they’d unfollowed each other and worry the recent tensions have caused a big rift. They’re both big personalities and have made no secret of their fallouts.”

Insiders recently told Closer that Gemma was on a mission for her and Arg to sign a lucrative weight-loss deal. The size 18-20 star has seen her weight yo-yo over the years and Arg – who lost 4st in 2015 – has been pictured looking noticeably bigger in recent months.

But sources say despite her big-money plans, Gemma has admitted to pals that she fears Arg – who dated size 8 star Lydia Bright on and off for almost ten years – could stray if he achieves his dream body.

The source says, “Arg is very complimentary about Gemma’s curves and makes her feel confident. But she knows his ex was very slim and he’s gone for slimmer girls in the past.

“She fears that if he lost weight and started getting more female attention, he could be tempted to leave her. She’s confessed this to Arg, who has told her not to worry and reassured her she’s the one for him. But it’s something that plays on her mind.”
