How did you end up being Keith Lemon’s BFF on Coming In America?

Keith reached out to me; “I’m doing this show about going to America, will you be my friend that I’m coming to visit?” We’ve been working together for a while now and we really get along. We have a bit of a laugh and call it work.

How did the pair of you become pals?

The first time we met was when I got out of the jungle [Ashley was runner-up on I’m A Celeb! in 2012] and I went to The [British] Comedy

Awards and he was there. My manager was like, “You know that wasn’t him, right, that was a character?” In America, we don’t really have someone playing a character and having a TV show based on that character. Keith is a special entity...

This is a mockumentary sketch show – do you think Americans “get” Keith?

The thing with Keith is that he goes for it. This was all improvised so that was quite a fun thing to indulge in. We had a particular scene where he was proposing to me with a sausage, and in another we were riding horses. I was just cracking up laughing because he was just a little bit nervous.

Being American and now living in the UK, do you miss anything about home?

I miss my mum at times – I’m going to get her over here. I miss proper Mexican food too, like proper tacos and burritos, and guacamole, which you can get here but it’s not quite the same. But I’ve got some amazing friends over here – including Kimberly [Wyatt, fellow Pussycat Doll]. I get to work over here as well; I love it.
