er hopes of H a happy ending with on/off beau James “Arg” Argent were crushed last week when it was revealed the pair had split – just three months after discussing their desire to start a family together. But pals say Gemma Collins, 37 – who reportedly dumped Arg, 30, after growing tired of his party lifestyle – is still determined to pursue her baby dream, no matter what.
FIERY ROWS
A source says, “Gemma couldn’t take Arg’s immature behaviour any more and the fiery rows were affecting her so badly, she knew she had to end it.
“As much as she loves Arg and was desperate to have her happy-ever-after, with marriage and kids, she instinctively knew having a baby together would end in disaster. She’s said that, even though she wants a baby more than anything, she knew he wasn’t the right man for her. She’s said she’d rather do it on her own.”
Just days after her split from Arg was announced, the TOWIE star was linked to two of her exes in a matter of days, after previously dating both men back in February, prior to her brief reunion with Arg.
Last week, Gemma’s jailbird ex, Stephen Mortimer, was spotted leaving her home after a night out in Essex.
Then, days after seeing Stephen, Gemma was linked to Laurence Hearn, who she met on Celebs Go Dating at the start of the year. The pair posted pictures of a night out together on social media, with Laurence posting, “My adorable girl, no one knows the real you, soft kind wonderful and the light in my life, you’re so special to me @gemmacollins1 I’m so proud to have you in my life [sic].”
But while she has multiple admirers, insiders say Gemma has no intention of getting into a serious relationship with any of her exes and is looking into her options of having a child on her own.
The source adds, “Gemma has history with Stephen and told friends she enjoyed meeting up, but it’s still early days and she doesn’t know what could happen. She and Laurence will always be friends, but she knows it went wrong with both men for a reason and isn’t holding on to false hope that she’ll have her happy ending with either of them.
“She loves how being photographed with her exes will look to Arg and it’s given her a boost. After her heartache with Arg, she doesn’t want to rely on a man for her baby dream in case the relationships don’t work out. She’s told friends she’s happy to do it on her own as she’s a strong, independent woman, and is adamant about finding a sperm donor and being a single mum.”
UNDER PRESSURE
The reality star has previously opened up about her devastating miscarriage in 2012, while engaged to car mechanic Rami Hawash. She told Closer last December that she was planning to use a sperm donor after years of dating the wrong men. She explained, “All my friends are married with children, it’s just me who isn’t and I want children soon. I’ve not met the man of my dreams yet and I’m feeling the pressure, so I’ve had a consultation and I’m freezing my eggs. That will buy me some time while I’m finding a sperm donor.”
The star – who is famed for her diva alter ego “The GC” – revealed last month that she’d landed her own fly-on-the-wall series, and insiders say she’s even planning to film her search for a sperm donor for the new reality show.
The source says, “Gemma did so much research into her options before she got back with Arg, and now it’s over between them she says she’s not wasting any more time. She’s already been looking into fertility doctors in LA and is thinking about setting up appointments. She thinks her baby journey would make for great viewing.
“She’s taking good care of herself and says she hopes to be pregnant by the end of the year. Gemma thinks that, if anything, having a baby on her own will add to her likeability and help in her mission to crack America”.
