I’m addicted to this year’s Strictly and, last week, I read that newsreader Kate Silverton said she had dropped two dress sizes since being on the show. I loved doing Dancing On Ice earlier this year and lost a stone myself. The training was so intense and you are so active every day, using every single muscle and getting the best out of your body. And because it’s fun, you’re not aware of it, so it doesn’t seem like hard work. You’re burning loads of calories, getting fitter and you eat a lot more healthily. But for me, the best improvemen­ts were the mental benefits. I really surprised myself – I discovered a strength and determinat­ion I didn’t know I had. I quit smoking and found a new work ethic. I never thought I’d be able to ice skate,

Brooke says Dancing and to end up in On

Ice was life-changing the final seemed impossible at the start, yet I came second. My confidence soared throughout, even though the judges were horrible to start with. Dancing On Ice really did make a longlastin­g impact on me and my lifestyle. I’ve been a lot more productive since the show – when I finished it, I didn’t know what to do with myself and my extra energy. I was like, “Let’s get a dog! Let’s move house! Let’s re-decorate!”. Honestly, the show completely changed my outlook on life. It made me realise you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
