CHOCO­LATE HANG­ING OAT BALLS

Makes around 30-40

280g but­ter, soft­ened 400g rolled oats 150g ic­ing su­gar 3–4 heaped tbsp co­coa pow­der 4tbsp brewed cof­fee, cooled 1tsp vanilla su­gar or 1-2tsp vanilla essence

TO DEC­O­RATE:

Pearl su­gar, des­ic­cated co­conut, choco­late sprin­kles or hun­dreds and thou­sands STEP 1 Mix all the in­gre­di­ents (ex­cept the dec­o­ra­tions) in a bowl un­til you have a good, uni­form mix­ture. You can use a stand mixer or do it by hand. STEP 2 Make equal-sized balls (usu­ally the size of a wal­nut), then roll in your cho­sen cov­er­ing be­fore chilling in the fridge.

VARI­A­TIONS

● Orange: For adults only. Add 2tbsp Coin­treau and 1/2tsp finely grated orange zest to 200g of the mix­ture. ● Al­mond: Adults only. Add 2tbsp Amaretto to 200g of the mix­ture. ● Rasp­berry: Add 1tbsp rasp­berry jam to 200g of the mix­ture.
