Gemma: “I’m having a £1million wedding in Marbs!”
As Gemma Collins goes full steam ahead for her show-stopping big day, friends urge her to rein in her spending
er boyfriend, H James “Arg” Argent, revealed last week how he’s set to propose next year following their on-off sevenyear romance. Now pals say “big spender” Gemma Collins is planning a lavish week-long celebration, with a whopping £1 million wedding budget.
A source says, “Getting married is all Gemma’s ever wanted. She’s been holding out for this moment for years, so she’s determined to make it the biggest party ever.
MONEY NO OBJECT
“She wants to get married in Marbella and fly out all her friends and family on private jets, then charter a luxury yacht to take them on a cruise round the Mediterranean and party for a whole week.
“She’s already put the feelers out for celebrity performers to entertain. She would absolutely love someone like Mariah Carey or Beyoncé, but her friends have told her to rein things in. Although Gemma – who’s worth £2.7 million – keeps saying money is no object.”
The reality couple – who are said to want “five wedding days” – have endured a rocky romance since finally making things official on last year’s TOWIE Christmas special, with their ups and downs being played out on the ITVBE show.
And while pals have expressed concern about Arg, 31, given his failure to commit in the past, as well as numerous rehab stints for his alleged battle with drugs and alcohol, Dancing On Ice star Gemma, 37, insists it’s the real deal this time.
The source says, “Everyone’s worried about Gemma sinking all this money into her wedding when they’ve been so up and down.
“They seem to split up every time they have a huge argument, so her closest friends have suggested seeing if they can go six months without having a bust-up and then planning the wedding after that. But Gemma’s adamant Arg is The One and says she can’t waste any more time.”
HEARTBREAK
The larger-than-life star has endured her fair share of heartbreak, including a nasty split from former fiancé Rami Hawash in 2014, and a bitter breakup from ex-con Stephen Mortimer, following claims he cheated on her.
And pals say the star – who has made no secret of her desperation to have a baby and last week said she’d wait until her 40th birthday in 2020 to start trying – is determined to get her family dream.
The source adds, “Gemma won’t let anyone trample on her dream. She’s throwing herself into planning what she calls ‘the showbiz wedding of the century’ and says she won’t be happy until she’s up on stage duetting with Mariah, dripping in diamonds as the new Mrs Argent.”
