Ven up trying to prove arriage isn’t in trouble’
The couple – who have children Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and seven-yearold Harper together – have endured endless speculation over the state of their 19-year marriage over the past year – being forced to fight off divorce rumours, as well as repeated claims of fallouts over David’s love of partying.
UNDER ATTACK
Their marriage came under attack yet again following a snap of Victoria and David kissing at the £30,000 party, which was attended by family and close celeb pals. Trolls were quick to slam the former footballer for his “passionless” kiss – with many critics slating it online as “awkward” and “how you’d kiss a relative”.
A source says, “Vic feels that if she were the one who was pregnant, everyone would accuse them of simply having a ‘Band Aid’ baby to keep the marriage together. But no one is speculating over the state of Tana’s marriage. Vic just wishes she could have that experience. Tana started the New Year with really happy news while all she got was more negativity.
“Vic was utterly defeated by the reaction following their party and says she feels like giving up on trying to prove the marriage isn’t in trouble. It’s horrible for her to feel like she has to constantly prove their love to the public.”
The source adds, “Vic is thrilled for Tana – especially after everything she went through last year. But she can’t help but feel they’re on totally different paths. They used to have so much in common – four children, famous husbands who had to work away from home a lot – and they’d do so many things together.
“But Tana and Gordon are retreating into a family bubble. They prefer to be at home and will have a lot on with the new baby, whereas Vic and David are in a different place.”
SADNESS
Closer recently reported how the fashion designer promised David she’d make more of an effort to go out socialising with him and make more time for his party-loving best pal, Dave Gardner, and his partner, Liv Tyler. She invited them to her London Fashion Week show in September, as well as their lavish New Year’s Eve bash.
But friends say despite her efforts to try to adapt to David’s preferred lifestyle, Posh secretly wants something different.
The source says, “While she’s trying hard to step out of her comfort zone to make David happy, she prefers the quiet life. She’s also sad that her own relationship isn’t following the same path as her pals, which she desperately wants with David.
“She’s expressed her feelings and he’s reassured her that he just wants more of a balance and doesn’t expect to be out partying every night and also wants quiet nights in, but she feels that they’re not on the same page and he’s not fully understanding where she’s coming from.
“David tried to reassure her that the critics are just jealous and trying to find reasons for them to fail. He urged her to stop being so sensitive to it and she’s agreed to try to concentrate on being happy without constantly worrying about how everything they do will be judged.”
