‘IT TAKES NERVES OF STEEL’
Closer’s psychological therapist, Emma Kenny, says, “Swingers make a clear distinction between sex and relationships – relationships involve love, and sex is just about adult play. Jealousy doesn’t come into it because both people are open and honest – which eradicates any fear of cheating. Swingers don’t tend to form relationships with the people they have sex with – instead they see it as a way of keeping sex interesting and use the other people as props. Having visited a swingers’ club to research the issue, I discovered there is often no preamble before the couples engage in sex, and it certainly isn’t for everyone. Swinging takes nerves of steel.”
Terri says, “We were on the beach when we received a message from a couple in their 40s, who we’d never met before. They’d seen from our online profile that we were staying in the same area as them and said they would love to meet up.
