MY TYPICAL DAY: ‘My husband’s a fantastic cook!’ IF I RULED THE WORLD...

Dogs would live forever. I’d sort out equal pay immediately.

TO WORK. I GET OUT OF BED

I’m definitely a morning person and once I’m up, I jump in the shower. I can’t function without a cup of coffee, which my husband [former footballer Paul Peschisolido] always makes for me. Then I’m good to go. I know it’s a terrible thing to say, but I never have breakfast, I can’t face it at that time of the morning!

AT 7AM. I TRAVEL ON THE UNDERGROUND

I’m the Vice-chair of West Ham Football Club, which is based in Stratford, East London, so it’s how I get my exercise. I walk to the Tube from where I live in Knightsbridge and then I walk to the Stadium when I get off at the other end. I do try to do my 10,000 steps a day. I don’t always succeed, but I try!

I am often in meetings, so I won’t have a big meal. I usually have a tuna or chicken salad sandwich.

I became a life peer in 2014 and I’m often there until 8pm. If I’m not, I work on my new podcast series Get What You Want, to show young women how to embrace their ambitions and get the best out of their careers.

He’s got Italian heritage and his food is fantastic. Otherwise, we’ll go out for dinner with friends. After dinner, I relax by watching TV – I love Line Of Duty or Luther. I prefer to be in bed by 10pm. I do like my sleep and need a good eight hours to keep all my energy levels topped up.

I EAT ON THE GO AT LUNCHTIMES. IN THE AFTERNOON I HEAD TO THE HOUSE OF LORDS. MY HUSBAND COOKS DINNER.
