ARG: ‘II would love to be a dad!’ Dancing On Ice,

Former TOWIE star James “Arg” Argent tells Closer about settling down with Gemma Collins T

heir relationship has endured its fair share of ups and downs, but Gemma Collins and her boyfriend Arg have now decided to make the ultimate commitment to one another by getting married. Announcing their wedding plans last month, Gemma and Arg proved they’re more serious than ever – and 30-year- old Arg tells Closer how he’s keen to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet, too.

“I would love to be a dad one day,” he smiles. “We will have to see how that goes. I’ve always wanted to have a family.”

Broody Gemma, 37, has even admitted that she’d planned to “trap” unsuspecting Arg by deliberately not using protection during a one-night stand with him in 2016. She later admitted, “It wasn’t the right thing to do, but I really wanted a baby.”

But for now, it looks like plans are full steam ahead for their upcoming nuptials.

“I am definitely asking Gemma to be my wife,” reveals Arg. “We love the idea of getting married in Essex or Brighton, as they’re both special places to us, or we might do it in Italy or Spain. The first time we made love was in Marbella, so it would be nice to get married there, too.”

RELATIONSHIP DRAMA

Over the past seven years, the pair have had a notoriously turbulent relationship. They first got together in 2012, after Arg temporarily split from his girlfriend of eight years, former TOWIE co-star Lydia Bright. After a series of explosive arguments, Arg and Lydia finally broke up in the summer of 2016 – but the drama didn’t end there, as Gemma later found out that Arg had slept with his ex Lydia on the same day as bedding her while filming TOWIE in Marbella.

Then, after years of on/off dating, Gemma and Arg finally reunited last April and have since bought a house in Marbella together. Now the couple are even talking about filming their own reality show.

Arg reveals, ”Potentially, me and Gemma might be doing our own show together. It would be similar to TOWIE and her spinoff show Diva Espana, which she did last summer.” Then he adds with a grin, “Am I worried about the huge strain it might put on our relationship? I think me and Gemma might be used to that by now!”

REHAB STINT

Arg’s demons have also put pressure on the couple since his first stint in rehab four years ago, where he was treated for drug addiction at The Priory after being found with traces of cocaine. The reality star – whose weight has ballooned by over 4st over the past year – was suspended from TOWIE and went into a Thai rehab facility for ten weeks in 2017 to overcome a “cycle of depression” for his own mental and physical wellbeing.

Now Arg – who has always had problems with his yo-yoing weight – admits that his way of dealing with what has happened is to stay occupied.

He says, “I keep busy and I have routine and structure. But all is going well. The weight loss is not going too good at the moment, but I’m not letting it get me down. It’s a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, but my food weakness is that I love a curry!”

And Arg praises Gemma, who has dropped a dress size – with claims she’s lost 2st – while training for revealing, “She is doing really well. She hasn’t missed a session and is always on time and has been really working hard. I’m so proud of her – I might do it next year!”
