‘I can’t wait to be a glam-ma’

Kym re­cently an­nounced that she is set to be­come a grand­mother for the first time as her daugh­ter Emily, 21, is about to wel­come a baby boy in May.

She tells “I can’t wait to be a grandma and see my lit­tle grand­son. Am I go­ing to be a glamma? Well, I am not very glam first thing in the morn­ing! It’s won­der­ful and we are all re­ally ex­cited. My daugh­ter has just sud­denly started blos­som­ing.”

The soap star has re­vealed that she em­pathises with her daugh­ter, hav­ing given birth to her first child, David, at just 18. And she’s ex­cited about the new ad­di­tion to the fam­ily.

She adds, “Be­ing a young mum seems to be a pat­tern in my fam­ily. My mum was 18 when she had my brother, my sis­ter was 18 when she fell preg­nant and so was I. I’ve warned her that it’s go­ing to be hard work, but I’ve also said that there are a lot of pos­i­tives to be­ing a young mum, too.

“There were times when I strug­gled be­cause your life changes so much when you have a child, es­pe­cially when you are young, but I wouldn’t change what I have now for the world.” let­ters ev­ery week. We’d write each other let­ters that we would open ev­ery Fri­day be­cause that is when we would nor­mally see each other. Then I sent Scott away with a cou­ple of gifts and he had a gift ar­rive for me ev­ery week as well. It was very ro­man­tic.”


Af­ter mov­ing house just be­fore Christ­mas, Kym was due to spend the fes­tive sea­son with her chil­dren, and New Year’s at Scott’s.

She re­veals, “It was lovely to be in our new house – I mean, I don’t do things by halves – and then I couldn’t wait to spend New Year with Scott and his fam­ily in Scot­land. It is very spe­cial for us to be to­gether.”
