In episode two, Dr Xand van Tulleken and Dr Helen Lawal challenge more diet testers to slim down quickly. This week, we learn all about charcoal drinks (they sound yum!), and the “breakfast diet”, where we can literally eat cake. We’ll do that one, please. The remaining six who didn’t get to perform last week give us a twirl and those are: Brian Mcfadden (worried about falling over), Melody Thornton, Richard Blackwood, Ryan Sidebottom, Saira Khan and ( Love Island’s) Wes Nelson. Sidney (James Norton) is down in the dumps following the departure of Violet. Luckily, she shows up again – making for a pretty major episode with an emotional ending... The Yuletide episode was most enjoyable and we don’t have to wait long for more because here it is: series eight of Midwife, with Harry Potter star Miriam Margoyles now firmly established as newbie Sister Mildred, and Trixie (Helen George) properly back as well, yay! Lucille is busy caring for a heavily pregnant young mum-to-be, Lesley – but it’s Lesley’s sister Cath who appears to be hiding a baby-shaped secret… Elsewhere, Sister Monica Joan is behaving oddly – and then goes missing.

It takes around seven hours to film every birth scene. Real infants can only film for 15 minutes at a time, so the team has worked with thousands of children over the years!
