Solo artists, double acts and trios can audition for this show, where the coaches can’t see who’s singing until they turn their spinny chairs around. The winner gets a contract with music giants Polydor Records; not at all bad. Welcome to “Project Noah” – a hush-hush government medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or wipe out the human race. Guess which one is more likely to happen here, eh? (This is also available on Talktalk TV channel 316). Casey Affleck is fab as the Boston janitor who has to care for his dead brother’s son. Shocked to discover he’s been made sole guardian of the teen, he’s forced to return to the fishing village where he grew up. Sam manages to gamble away all the money from last week. This is bad – but luckily, she happens upon some further inside info at her work, owing to being invisible (ie she’s a cleaner and all the bigwig banker types act like she doesn’t exist). This new drama IS a bit far-fetched, but there are several nail-biting scenes to enjoy, and Sheridan Smith is ace as a struggling mum/gambling addict. Turn to page 38 to read Closer’s interview with Sheridan.
