UNCLOG THE SINK WITHOUT A PLUNGER

Pour a handful of soda crystals down the plug hole, followed by a cupful of white vinegar. You’ll start to hear a fizzing reaction as the two ingredients combine. Leave for up to 30 mins before boiling the kettle and pouring it down the plug hole. Do this once a fortnight.

KEEP BLINDS DUST-FREE

Use tumble-dryer sheets to wipe down the slats of Venetian blinds. Once all the dust is off, dab a capful of Zoflora disinfectant onto a sheet of folded kitchen roll, and rub down each slat.

ERASE STUBBORN SCUFFS

To clean skirting boards, door frames and woodwork, first use a fluffy duster on all the surfaces. Then put a capful of fabric conditioner in a bowl of warm water and wipe down surfaces with a wet cloth. The mix cleans off dirt and scuffs without removing paint.

REVIVE YOUR MATTRESS

To remove stains from a mattress, sprinkle bicarbonate soda (baking powder) on the affected area, and then massage it into the surface with your latex gloves. Leave for an hour, and then vacuum off.

M.O.T. YOUR WASHING MACHINE

Washing machine a bit smelly? Slide out the drawer, spray it with bathroom cleaner and leave it to soak in warm water. Then use the spray behind the drawer space to remove any fabric softener build-up. Wipe down the rubber rim around the machine with bathroom spray and a damp cloth. Then pour half a mugful of white vinegar into the drum, along with 1tbsp of bicarbonate soda into the drawer, and run a 90°c cycle. Do this once a month for a pristine machine.

REVITALISE A CLOUDY VASE

Fill a third of the glass vase with water, and then add 1tbsp of bicarbonate soda. Shake to combine. Generously spray in white vinegar and you’ll see a fizzing reaction. Swirl it around to instantly perk up the glass – there’s no need to scrub, simply rinse out the mixture.

SALVAGE A SCORCHED PAN

Spray the bottom of the pan with Fairy Power, leave for three mins, and rinse off. Apply a generous amount of The Pink Stuff cleaning paste on to a sponge and scrub the base, then rinse away.
