Jordan’s pals:

“Prison could have turned things around for her”

- By Daisy Mclure

She punched the air in celebration last week after being handed a three-month driving ban and a £1,500 fine for being nearly twice the legal limit while in charge of her pink Range Rover. It followed a boozy night out last October, which saw former glamour model Jordan caught without her knickers in the backseat of the vomit-covered vehicle, after it crashed into a bush and another car. She admitted outside court, “Brilliant, I thought I was about to get two years [ban]”.

UNREPENTANT

Jordan, real name Katie Price, was cleared of a second charge of drink driving – which could have carried a six-month prison sentence – after insisting a mystery man had been behind the wheel but had run away before the police arrived. However, the judge insisted he did not have “any degree of confidence” in her account and did not consider her a “plausible or credible witness”.

Speaking soon after the verdict, the 40-year-old mum of five – who was pictured being held up by a security guard after a boozy night out with on-off flame Kris Boyson, just days before the court appearance – appeared unrepentant over her actions and determined to get back behind the wheel, adding flippantly, “I get my driving licence back on the 24 of May... which means I can go car shopping.”

Now insiders say her inner circle are seriously worried.

A source says, “Katie will never learn from her mistakes if she keeps being let off the hook. She laughs everything off and has admitted she doesn’t feel scared of behaving recklessly because she always seems to wriggle her way out of it. She always tells people to ‘never underestimate the Pricey’ and sometimes feels as though she’s invincible.

“But friends are really concerned. Deep down, they can’t help feeling she should be in jail. As harsh as it sounds, they’d secretly hoped a stint in prison would be the shock to the system she so desperately needs to turn her life around. They’re scared about what might happen to her now.”

Psychological therapist Emma Kenny tells Closer, “Katie doesn’t yet realise the impact of her actions. She needs to be made aware that reckless actions can have a damaging effect on her life. Consequences create change and, often, a stern punishment sends a real message to a person that they need to take a long, hard look at themselves.

“Prison often acts as a wakeup call, but I believe that, in Katie’s case, something like a community order would be a better option. Something that actually affects her freedom and her time and makes her realise she can’t be the boss of herself all the time – that she needs to learn to consider others.”

OUT OF CONTROL

Jordan’s recent court appearance comes after a turbulent year. The star – who recently admitted taking cocaine to “self-medicate”, and narrowly avoided bankruptcy in December – appeared to spiral out of control in the wake of her mum Amy’s terminal lung disease and her split from third husband Kieran Hayler in May.

She threw herself into a rocky romance with personal trainer Kris, 30, and raised eyebrows after a string of wild nights out.

To make matters worse, Jordan’s children, Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, moved in with their dad Peter Andre, whom she thanked for being a good father on Instagram last week. Just days later, she appeared to hit out at one of the fathers of her kids in a cryptic Instagram post – blasting them “cruel” and accusing them of using the “kids as a weapon” – though it was swiftly deleted.

Meanwhile, her youngest kids, Jett, five, and Bunny, four, appear to spend a lot of their time with dad Kieran. Her eldest child, Harvey, 16 – who suffers from numerous disabilities – is believed to be in residential care midweek.

In September, the star – who debuted new peroxide blonde hair last week – entered rehab for 28 days for post-traumatic stress disorder, after a video of her rapping about cocaine surfaced. That same month, she allegedly screamed abuse at her ex Kieran’s new girlfriend, Michelle Pentecost – with reports emerging that she was being investigated over the incident.

Despite insisting she’s finally beaten her demons, pals fear Jordan – who was reportedly four hours late picking up Junior and Princess from their dad’s house last month, after a night out – is the same person almost a year on.

WAKE-UP CALL

The source adds, “Katie believes she’s bounced back, but her friends don’t think she’s faced her issues head-on. She doesn’t appear to learn from her mistakes and, despite all the worry she’s caused, still acts the same way. Because she’s never faced harsh punishment, she never learns her lesson. Even in rehab, she was still allowed to leave at night and see Kris and her friends.”

Last week, Jordan claimed Kris had been “no help” during her court cause, further fuelling rumours the romance was off.

The source adds, “Katie’s on-off romance with Kris isn’t helping matters. She had this court case last week and her mind was still focused on him. Her pals think she needs a hard dose of reality to realise this chaotic lifestyle has to stop. Not just for Katie, but for everyone around her.”
