5 MINUTES WITH...

Michelle Keegan, 31, who this week attempts to impress in the celebrity Bake Off tent – and it could just be the first ever case of the Our Girl star suffering with a soggy bottom…

-

So Michelle, can you bake? No. I can cook, but I think cooking and baking are completely different things. But I’m a massive fan of the show, so I thought it would be a great challenge.

Do you have a signature dish?

Cooking-wise, I like doing tapas dishes, because I like picky food. So my signature dish would be gambas al pil pil – garlic chilli prawns. Ah, so good!

Who do you reckon is your biggest competition in the tent?

I think everyone is. There’s not one person I would say who is really bad, and all the guys are very good at flavours, as well. I tried all the flapjacks they made – which were all different, but every one tasted really nice.

Have you had any baking disasters at all?

The first time I made flapjacks, it was like granola. I forgot to put the sugar in, so I went through hours of mixing it and making it, then I went to cut into it – and it fell apart.

D’oh! Are you more likely to get a Hollywood handshake, or a soggy bottom?

A soggy bottom…

Why are you supporting Stand Up To Cancer?

My friend got cancer this year. She’s in remission now, but seeing someone so close to you go through it, at such a young age as well, makes you realise how important these charities are. For me, it was very important to get involved.

Have you practised your bakes before coming on?

I made the flapjack a few times, and I practised the meringue once. It went all right actually, considering I’ve never made meringue before…
