MELINDA’S SHOCK AT EX’S JIBE
They seemed set to go the distance after finding love on First Dates last summer, but last week it emerged that Melinda Messenger’s eight-month romance with wedding photographer Chris Hughes is over.
Chris, 44, confirmed the split in his Instagram comments, where he seemed to lash out at Melinda, 47, claiming he “never wants to kiss her again”, after a fan commented on his post, writing, “Kiss Melinda again.”
A source says, “Melinda’s shocked that Chris would be negative about their relationship. She was hoping they’d still be friends. She’s found it really upsetting.”
In November, Melinda – who has Morgan, 18, Flynn, 16, and Evie, 14, from her marriage to Wayne Roberts – expressed her love for Chris during a joint appearance on Loose
Women, revealing they’d already introduced their children to each other.
Reflecting on her first date with Chris, the former model said, “It’s that classic thing – you decide you’re happy being single, and then that’s when you meet someone. We just clicked, it felt like we’d known each other for such a long time.”
Melinda is no stranger to heartache. In 2017, she swore off finding love again after splitting from ski champion Warren Smith, following the end of her marriage to Wayne in 2012.
Speaking to Closer earlier this year, she revealed that she was ready for a serious relationship, saying, “I do see myself in a long-term relationship with someone who is self-aware, has a good heart and is kind. I would love to settle down.”
