While the festive season has always been something

Lisa Snowdon has looked forward to, it now means so much more as, this month, it’s also the anniversary of her engagement to fiancé George Smart.

Lisa, 47, and George, 40, first dated 18 years ago when they worked together. They drifted apart but, following Lisa’s headlinegrabbing relationship with George Clooney in the ’00s, the pair rekindled their romance in 2015, with George Smart popping the question a year later.

She says, “It was our anniversary [recently] of when we first got back together, so this time of the year is quite special anyway.”

But despite the couple’s excitement, Lisa admits they haven’t started planning their nuptials, revealing that she’s pinning her hopes on a discussion in the new year.

She tells Closer she’d like an “intimate wedding”, adding, “We’re really happy as we are. I’ve honestly never been that hung up about getting married. I feel like I’m not very traditional in that way, so the fact that we’re engaged is already a big enough commitment. At this stage, it’s further down our list of priorities. We’re very in love and committed the way we are.

“I feel like people are constantly saying, ‘What next, what next?’ rather than living in the moment.”

FAMILY TREATS

For now, the model and TV presenter is focused on Christmas – and top of her list is spending time with her sister’s kids. Lisa is a doting auntie to niece Willow, six, and nephews Finley, eight, and Rudie, three, and regularly features them on her Instagram page.

She says, “We go to my mum’s on Boxing Day because my parents are separated, and then, between Christmas and New Year, we’ll see George’s family.

“It’s a big old family Christmas with lots of cooking, eating and drinking. I love to be with my nieces and nephews over Christmas. We play a lot of board games, cards – Uno, things like that with the kids.”

Earlier this year, Lisa revealed she doesn’t want children of her own with George because she doesn’t want to add any pressure, saying, “I value our relationship so much that I don’t want anything to change; I don’t want to put that added pressure on him or me.”

Lisa first found fame as a successful fashion model in the ’90s. Her on-off romance with Hollywood actor George Clooney lasted for five years after they met on the set of a Martini advert in 2000. But after years of modelling, the TV presenter has spoken openly about how, after she started the menopause in her forties, she put her own body under scrutiny.

BODY LOVE

“My hormones were all out of whack and it did affect me a bit when I started going through the pre-menopausal symptoms,” she reveals. “My weight fluctuated significantly – because I’m tall, I can slightly get away with it, but, equally, my clothes weren’t fitting me.”

However, after starting bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to relieve the symptoms, Lisa says she’s feeling more confident than ever, and works out three to four times a week to feel good.

She says, “I still have as much energy as I did before. I have a personal trainer. I do some Pilates, walking, running

– a mixture of everything.

“As long as you move a lot, and try to incorporate exercise into your week as much as you can, it’s not only good for your body, but it’s good for your mind as well.”
