‘I didn’t need to lose weight …but I feel brilliant’

-

Despite already being a trim size 8, fitness fan Ferne McCann took on a 21-day challenge in a bid to tone up after admitting to “raiding the fridge” and drinking at the start of lockdown.

The 5ft 8 former TOWIE star – who upped her exercise and adopted a “cleaner” eating plan after having her daughter Sunday in 2017, dropping from a size 12 to 8 – has been sharing her diet and HIIT (high-intensity interval training workouts) on her health-dedicated “Ferntrition” Instagram page.

Posting the before and after pictures, the mum of one wrote, “After non-stop raiding the fridge since the start of lockdown, and drowning my sorrows, I knew I wanted to get serious. Pure hard work and sticking to my plan. My legs and bum have got slightly bigger and are now more defined (from non-stop squatting)… I haven’t had a drop of alcohol (which is a big deal for me). I know there was no weight to lose, but I have trained and pushed myself like you wouldn’t believe.”

In April, Ferne, 29 – who is newly single after her five-month relationship with City trader Albie Gibbs, 25, crumbled under the pressure of lockdown – told Closer that having her mum isolate with her and Sunday had given her more time to focus on training and cooking healthy meals.

She said, “I don’t usually have time to go for a run, as it [would require] leaving Sunday. But now my mum’s here and I have the time, I’m loving it. I went for my first run in two years and it felt brilliant. A good run outside during this time does wonders for your mind.”
