Courteney: “I’ll never lose Johnny again”

After being separated during lockdown, Courteney Cox has vowed to not go longer than a week without boyfriend Johnny McDaid

They were finally reunited in LA last week after being forced apart for two months, as the pair were locked down on different sides of the Atlantic due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The long-anticipated reunion between Courteney Cox, 55, and her long-term partner Johnny McDaid, 43, came after the Friends star admitted in a candid interview to missing Johnny’s “physical touch” while they were quarantined in different countries.

And insiders tell Closer that the experience has had a profound effect on Courteney, 55, who has pledged to try to never spend more than seven days apart from her Snow Patrol musician boyfriend.

A source says, “Courteney’s been struggling a bit without Johnny and she’s over the moon to have him back living with her at their place in LA. She’s vowed to never let him go again, and is fully prepared to get on the road with him in the future when he travels for work. She wants them to work out a schedule where they’re by each other’s side as much as possible, and even loosely agreeing the maximum they should be apart is a week.

“Johnny really missed Courteney, too, and once they were back together, they had a really romantic date night at home with a takeaway from an expensive Italian restaurant.

“As LA has been opening up more shops as restrictions around the pandemic ease, they’ve been returning to more of their normal routine, which has made Courteney safe and happy again.” The pair have been dating on and off since 2013, after being set up by mutual pal Ed Sheeran. They got engaged in 2014, but broke it off the following year and spent six months apart before reuniting. Courteney once described the break-up as “brutal”, but last year said they’re in a “better place” – and the time apart made them realise how much they loved each other.

Courteney has had 16-yearold daughter Coco – who she shares with ex-husband David Arquette – around for company amid the pandemic, while Johnny was holed up in the UK, working with the band. She is said to have used her time in quarantine to rethink their partnership.

The source says, “They’re used to being in a long-distance relationship, but lockdown has really made Courteney realise you never know what’s going to happen in life. Coco is her priority, but she wants to be by Johnny’s side for as much as it’s possible.”
