‘I’m responsible for my own joy’
She’s undergone a remarkable transformation, reportedly losing a whopping 7st, and now Adele reveals that she’s turned to a self-help book as part of her life overhaul.
Sharing a photo of Untamed by Glennon Doyle on her Instagram, Adele told fans that it’s taught her that true happiness can only come from inside. “This book will shake your brain and make your soul scream,” she said. “Do it, read it, live it, practice it… I never knew that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom!”
Part autobiographical and part manifesto, Untamed draws on Glennon’s life experiences and teaches readers how to abandon the world’s expectations of us and “be brave”.
The bestselling author overcame drug addiction, alcoholism and an eating disorder before falling in love with female football champ Abby Wambach.
After years of striving “to be good”, the mum-of-three then left her husband for Abby, and rebuilt her life.
“I was finally hearing my own voice – the voice that had been silenced by decades of cultural conditioning,” says Glennon, speaking of the moment she met Abby. “I decided to build a life of my own – one based on my individual desire, intuition and imagination. I would reclaim my true, untamed self.”
Over the last 18 months, Adele has undergone her own dramatic life transformation. She split from husband Simon Konecki, father to her seven-year-old son Angelo, last year and has steadily dropped from a size 18 to a 10 thanks to the strict SirtFood Diet. The plan includes foods such as buckwheat, apples, blueberries, kale and strawberries, incorporated into two meals and one juice a day.
And now, thanks to Untamed, it seems her self-improvement journey is set to continue. “I thought we were meant to be stressed and dishevelled, confused and selfless like a Disney character,” Adele said on her Instagram. “You’re an absolute don Glennon.”
