IT’S A BOY FOR KATE & RIO! Baby Special
She announced she was pregnant in June, and now Kate Ferdinand has revealed that she and husband Rio will be welcoming a son.
Kate, 29, told her Instagram followers, “It’s a boy” while sharing photos of her, Rio, 41, and her three stepchildren celebrating with blue confetti.
New mum and best friend Lydia Bright wrote “Yay” with three blue hearts, while Danielle Lloyd posted, “Congratulations babe!”
The new baby will make them a family of six, with Kate being stepmum to sons Tate, 14, and Lorenzo, 12, and daughter Tia, nine, who Rio had with late wife Rebecca, who died of breast cancer in 2015.
The former TOWIE star and the footballer began dating in 2016 after meeting in Dubai, and married in a lavish Turkey wedding in June last year. Speaking of their marriage, Rio said, “We’ve become a proper family unit now. I’m just so happy we’re all as one.”
Kate has been open about her initial struggles adapting to life as a stepmum, as well as her desire to become a mum herself. She said earlier this year, “I cried every day for a year… I wasn’t really used to being around kids, but I knew I would do anything for them. The kids talk about having a baby all the time. I think it would be bring us together closer, tighter, as a unit.”
Fitness fanatic Kate has also spoken about her body changing during pregnancy, saying on social media, “I’ve just been so exhausted. It’s taken me some time to get used to the fact that I’m growing a little human in me and to slow down. I’m always running around... It was hard for my mind but I really had to listen to my body – rest and take it easy.”
