Why Kim won’t risk another feud with Paris
After ending their six-year war of words, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are inseparable once again – and the iconic duo are now planning to cash-in on their renewed friendship status
Much to the delight of their fans, Kim Kardashian indulged in some classic noughties nostalgia last week as she shared a new picture of her with Paris Hilton wearing matching velour tracksuits and oversized Louis Vuitton handbags – recreating the look from their iconic heyday 15 years ago.
Reaffirming their newfound friendship status, Kim, 40, dubbed the pair “besties for life!!!” and insiders say she and childhood friend Paris,
39, have become closer than ever in recent months, after thawing their six-year feud. So much so, insiders reveal the duo are planning a reality show, which will no doubt delight fans following September’s shock news that Keeping Up With The Kardashians was ending.
DOUBLE ACT
A source says, “Kim and Paris have been blown away by the hype around them as a double act again. It’s naturally made them consider doing their own reality show, with Kim joking how she could be “the new Nicole Richie” (in a nod to Paris’ 2003 series The Simple Life with her former BF) and how much fun they would have back on the scene together again.
“Kim has realised that their renewed friendship could be key to helping her keep her public profile. And if they can pull off a new reality show, she knows it would be possible to do it without having to bring husband Kanye into filming, unlike KUWTK. She is keen not to put him under any pressure following his recent spell of concerning behaviour.
“And of course, being entrepreneurs, it’s not lost on them that they could capitalise on their new friendship. They’ve even talked about releasing a fashion line that would involve reinventing retro looks from their heyday, as well as products like phone covers with their infamous memes, and a jewellery line to bring back signature pieces from the early noughties, like rhinestone belly button rings and BFF necklaces.”
In 2003, then-unknown Kim was given her first taste of the spotlight when she was working as a stylist for Paris.
GROWN APART
She made regular appearances on her reality show, and the inseparable duo quickly became notorious on the Hollywood party circuit. Reflecting on the early days of their friendship, Kim – who has four children with Kanye, 43, has said, “We’d go anywhere and everywhere just to be seen.” But as Paris’ fame dwindled and Kim became a household name in her own right, their friendship soured, amid reports that Paris was furious her pal had “stolen” her limelight.
In 2008, she cruelly likened Kim’s famously curvy bottom
to “cottage cheese stuffed in a trash bag” and in an interview later that year, Kim – who once replied “Paris who?” when asked about her former friend – said, “There comes a point in life where you just grow apart and realise you’re not as similar as you thought.”
But after reuniting at designer Ricardo Tisci’s birthday party in Ibiza in 2014, the pair appeared to be working towards an end to their feud. Two years later, fans quipped it was a “holiday miracle” when
Paris received an invite to the Kardashians’ star-studded Christmas Eve bash.
And the pair have since grown closer than ever, with Kim appearing in Paris’ music video for her aptly-titled song, Best
Friend’s Ass, last year. Heiress Paris also spoke fondly about her “love” for thrice-married Kim in a series of TikTok videos they did together.
Reciprocating her gratitude, Kim – who recently cut ties with longtime pal Larsa Pippen – said, “I really would do anything for her. She literally gave me a career. And I totally acknowledge that.”
Insiders say that after Paris – who recently opened up about her “amazing relationship” with 39-year-old entrepreneur Carter Reum – stepped in to support her pal during her recent marital dramas with Kanye amid his public meltdown, Kim has vowed not to let anything come in between their friendship again.
The source adds, “Having Paris by her side over the past few months has meant more to Kim than she can put into words and it’s opened her eyes to just how important their relationship is to her. They’ve grown up and come a long way since being 20-something, fame-hungry party girls, and while Kim’s excited about working with Paris, she’s vowed not to let anything jeopardise their friendship again.”
