SIMON AND LAUREN ‘CLOSER THAN EVER’ AFTER ACCIDENT
They looked like loved-up honeymooners during their sunshine break in Barbados last week – appearing to further silence split claims that hit the headlines in May.
And pals say Simon Cowell, 61, and Lauren Silverman, 43 – who share six-year-old son, Eric, together – are stronger than ever since the mogul’s nearfatal bike accident in August, which saw him break his back in multiple places.
The source says, “Lauren’s been Simon’s rock over the last few months and it’s helped them bond and build an even deeper connection, which they’ve both said has made them feel closer than ever. She’s barely left his side since his accident and her support, love and care towards him, during one of his toughest times, has reinforced his love for her and made him realise how lucky he is to have her.”
In May, Simon was forced to deny having an affair with Mel B, 45, while they were working together on The X Factor in 2018, amid reports Lauren sent a series of furious texts to the Spice Girl.
Just days earlier, their seven-year relationship was thrust into the spotlight when Amanda Holden’s eight-year-old daughter, Hollie, awkwardly claimed the couple had broken up during her mum’s Instagram Live stream – which Amanda, Simon’s fellow BGT judge, 49, quickly shot down as a “mistake”. And after a difficult year, which also saw the talent show boss quit his record label, Syco, to focus on his TV ventures, pals say it’s made him realise what is important in life.
The source adds, “Simon and Lauren have had their struggles, and were in a rocky place at the start of last year, but his accident put a lot into perspective and helped get them back on track.”
