‘I’m always with Sam – it’ll be nice to show a new side to me’

-

She started out on TOWIE in 2010 – but Billie Faiers rose to mainstream fame as one half of the stars of The

Mummy Diaries, the hit ITV show that follows her and sister Sam through their motherhood journeys.

And now 30-year-old Billie – mum to daughter Nelly, six, and son Arthur, three, with husband Greg Shepherd – says that starring on Dancing On Ice without sister Sam by her side is something that’s completely out of her comfort zone.

She says, “It’ll be nice for viewers to see a different side to me. I’ve always played it safe and done stuff with my sister because I feel comfortable and it’s almost like a security blanket. When I was given this opportunity, I thought, ‘If you don’t do this now, you’ll never do it.’ I think it’ll be nice to show that there is another side to me. I think people are really surprised that I’m doing it – they’d be less surprised if Samantha was doing it, because she’s always been more sporty than me.

“Sam’s come to see me and she’s really impressed. And the kids came up to the ice rink and had a little go. Bless Nelly – Arthur was much better than her. Nelly’s really clumsy and her balance is not great!”

Despite her TV show garnering millions of viewers, Billie adds that her biggest fear is the live performances – having had no previous experience in front of an audience.

She adds, “I’m never going to be an amazing ice skater, but I’m going to try my best. The biggest challenge is overcoming my fear of performing.

It’s something I’ve never done before. It sounds bizarre, because we’re on TV and we film a reality show, but it’s so different. I’m just so nervous.”
