Surgery addict mum: “I paid for my 16-year-old daughter to have fillers – it’s never too early to start”

Dubbed the Human Barbie, Sarah Burge has spent a staggering £500,000 on cosmetic work. Shockingly, she says she’s proud that her teenager is following in her footsteps…

Over the past 30 years, Sarah Burge, 60, has had hundreds of cosmetic surgery procedures –from boob jobs to vaginal rejuvenation. She will stop at nothing to look the best that she can and freely admits, “Appearances are everything. I never understand women who don’t want to look their best.”

Shockingly, Sarah has now encouraged her youngest daughter, Poppy, 16, to start getting treatments. Earlier this month, she took her to her local clinic, where she lives in Puerto Banus, Spain, to get Botox and filler.

CONFIDENCE

Sarah, who has two other grown-up daughters, says, “Poppy and I do everything together, and as surgery is such a big part of my life, it’s obvious we’ll get surgery and tweaks together. When lockdown restrictions were lifted where I live, I booked myself in for a Botox and filler appointment.

“Poppy always says she wants what I have, so as soon as I was finished, she hopped into the chair and said, “My go now”. The doctor didn’t ask her age and agreed to do some fillers in her lips and beneath her nose. I wasn’t shocked or worried

– all I thought was ‘That’s my girl!’ I was proud of her.

“Looking good is what it is all about. She’s like any other teenager and is obsessed with how she looks.

“She only had a tiny bit of filler to start with and then we’ll build up. But she looks great – the £500 fee was worth it and her confidence has been boosted.

Unbelievably, she adds, “I realise this may well set her on the road to addiction, but these days it’s normal. Everyone’s having it done, and if she doesn’t, she’ll get left behind in the looks department.”

Sarah believes her own addiction started when she was seven and had her ears pinned back, though it wasn’t until she was 29 that she started having regular cosmetic surgery.

CONTROVERSY

Since then, she boasts that she’s had well over £500,000 of nips, tucks and tweaks so that she feels she always looks her best.

Sarah, who’s married to businessman Anthony, 61, says, “I even did a course to learn how to do Botox and fillers so that I could do my own – but during lockdown it’s been impossible to source the liquids, so I couldn’t do it.”

It’s sadly inevitable that

Poppy would follow in her footsteps as Sarah has encouraged it from an early age. She courted controversy when she gave Poppy an £8,000 voucher for a boob job for her seventh birthday, followed by a £7,000 voucher for liposuction.

At the time, she said, “I’m investing in my child’s future. It’s empowering for her to be able to take charge of the way she wants to look. Some people think it’s controversial, but I get angry when strangers say I’m a bad mother because I don’t think there’s any harm in giving her this gift. I’m just supporting her and making her dreams come true.”

Now she’s older, Poppy still appreciates the vouchers and is deciding what treatments and surgery she will have in the future.

Worryingly, Poppy told Closer, “I’ve been wanting something done for a while now and, over lockdown,

I’ve been reviewing myself – there’s been plenty of time. I wanted my lips to be plumper – I feel they’re too thin – and my face wasn’t quite balanced. So, after Mum had her treatments, I took my chance.

“I love how it’s left me looking – it’s definitely the start of my journey and I will keep looking at myself and making decisions about what to have next. And now that I’ve started, Mum has said she will do my filler top-up as soon as she can get the liquids again.”

Poppy adds, “People want to look their best and

I bet the only reason some people disapprove is because they can’t afford to have it themselves and they’re jealous.

MISERABLE

“Appearances are really important – it’s everything nowadays. You’ve got to look good to feel good. It’s not just us – everyone’s obsessed with the way they look. The way I see it is that you’ve either got to do something about your appearance or stop moaning. Mum will never stop having surgery – she’s miserable if she doesn’t feel good about herself.

“And during lockdown I felt the same. I always have my nails and hair done regularly and when I couldn’t I felt unmotivated

❛ SHE’S LIKE ANY OTHER TEENAGER AND IS OBSESSED WITH HOW SHE LOOKS ❜

about everything. I stopped wearing make-up and making any sort of effort and it was awful.

“At the end of the day, everyone has an addiction.

Ours happens to be beauty and looking good, which is a lot healthier than drink or drugs.”

Sarah adds, “People will call me a bad mother, but Poppy will go and have it done anyway. I’d rather she do it with my permission and supervision than go to a back-street doctor.

“She’s old enough to know what she wants and make her own decisions. I think she looks great.”
